Job Summary:
A Live-In Carer provides compassionate, high-quality, and professional care for service users who require assistance with daily living. The role involves residing with the client and offering personalised support tailored to their needs. The Live-In Carer ensures the service user’s physical, emotional, and social well-being while promoting independence, dignity, and comfort. This role requires substantial caregiving experience, empathy, and flexibility, with responsibilities adjusted to the specific needs and health condition of the service user.
Key Responsibilities:
Personal Care Assistance -
Help service users with bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting to ensure hygiene and comfort.
Provide mobility support and assist with safe transfers and positioning.
Health Monitoring and Medication Administration -
Administer or supervise medications following the care plan and document each dose on Birdie EMAR.
Monitor service users for any changes in health and report findings to the management team through the Birdie Care platform.
Meal Preparation and Nutrition Support -
Prepare and serve nutritious meals tailored to the service users’ dietary needs.
Assist with mealtimes if required and ensure adequate hydration.
Companionship and Emotional Support -
Provide service users with conversation, emotional support, and companionship.
Engage service users in activities and encourage social interaction to promote mental and emotional well-being.
Household Environment -
Assist service users with light household duties, including tidying, laundry, and basic cleaning.
Support service users in managing household tasks, such as organising shopping lists, running errands, or accompanying them to appointments.
Documentation and Reporting -
Maintain accurate records of each 24-hour period, including care provided, changes in condition, and any incidents via the Birdie Care platform.
Report any significant health concerns or behavioural changes to the care management team promptly via the Birdie care platform
Emergency Response -
Respond calmly and efficiently to emergencies, providing first aid if qualified, and alerting emergency services along with the management team.
Qualifications and Experience
Experience: Ideally 2-3 years of experience in domiciliary or community-based care, with a preference for candidates with supervisory or mentoring experience. However full training provided if new to the industry. Skills: Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
Physical Requirements: Ability to perform caregiving tasks safely, as per the care plan and risk assessments.
Preferred Skills and Certifications although full training available:
Valid First Aid and CPR certification.
Care certificate
Training in medication administration and monitoring.
Familiarity with specific care needs such as dementia, physical disabilities, or palliative care.

Compassionate, reliable, and respectful.
Adaptability to various service user needs and flexible to handle changing schedules.
Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
