Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the Assistant Procurement Manager will be responsible for managing the facility category and any other categories, subcategories, or duty assigned.
The University spends nearly £20 million per annum on externally sourced goods, services, and works. To increase efficiency, value for money, and professionalism, the university is reorganising the procurement function into a more centralised one and as such requires the service of an experienced Assistant Procurement Manager to oversee the Estate and Facility management category, among other functions.
You will support the Procurement Manager in the periodic review of procurement policies and functions, training, educating, advising and supporting colleagues throughout the University with regards to purchasing issues. You will also ensure that all significant procurements comply with current legislation.
The University has access to a wide range of Higher Education and Public Contracts, providing cost savings, efficiencies, and compliance with all regulations. You will be expected to use these and other methods and means to make progress towards the target of improving value for money for every pound spent by the university, especially in the facility category.
Educated to degree level or with an equivalent qualification e.g. CIPS, or equivalent relevant experience, you will be self-motivated and an influential communicator, both verbally and in writing, not only with team colleagues but also with other internal stakeholders and many external stakeholders such as contractors, suppliers, neighbours, and the local council. You must have the ability to manage both internal and external stakeholders and proactively organise positive performance management techniques to assist the department in operating as a highly influential team.
