About the role St Francis Catholic School is seeking an experienced and dedicated Groundsperson to commence in the 2025 school year from 20 January 2025, working 5 hours per week. This role is a Term Time, Fixed Term position. The Groundsperson contributes to the effective and efficient operation and environment of the school by providing a high level of maintenance and upkeep of the school grounds. The Groundsperson will be required to assess repairs quickly to enable maximum resolution to ensure safety at all times. The Groundsperson will work with limited supervision under the direction of the Principal. Key Accountabilities The Groundsperson will be expected to work within and adhere to Workplace Health and Safety guidelines and demonstrate the knowledge and ability to work in a team environment. Other duties include: Maintain lawn, trim trees overhanging infrastructure, hedging, blowing down and outdoor vacuuming Assist with constant upkeep and upgrading of School grounds and gardens, including fertilising, poisoning, landscaping and minor irrigation checks and repairs as required Bin runs, rubbish removal, tilling sandpits and pressure cleaning Assist with setting up for School functions and displays Carry out minor repairs to the School property and equipment, including: Assist with marking playing fields Routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery and sheds, including external cleaning Assist with general maintenance, upkeep and cleaning duties as reasonably requested Other related duties as reasonably requested by the Principal. Mandatory Criteria Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government Undertake Workplace Health and Safety Training Current Driver’s Licence Ability to travel from time to time within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner. This position will be subject to a pre-employment medical assessment to support the selection process.
