Teaching Assistant Vacancies at Our Special School
We have several vacancies for Teaching Assistants to support students with physical and neurological impairments.
Our School is a community special school for students aged 3-19 with physical, neurological, and learning difficulties. We are looking to recruit enthusiastic individuals to join our team, starting on 2 September 2024. Experience in a special needs setting or as a Teaching Assistant is advantageous but not essential.
The successful candidates will be responsible for supporting students with physical and/or neurological disabilities, including those with mobility challenges or learning difficulties, and providing assistance with personal care.
The school has an Ofsted rating of Outstanding across all areas.
Job Purpose
We seek a dedicated Teaching Assistant to work closely with class teachers to support students' learning in accordance with the national curriculum, codes of practice, and school policies.
Key Duties
1. Support literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills development.
2. Attend to personal care needs as per each student's Care Plan.
3. Promote positive behavior and keep students engaged.
4. Participate in planning and evaluating learning activities.
5. Monitor and record student responses and achievements.
6. Assist in implementing educational and care programs.
7. Maintain appropriate resources and specialist equipment.
8. Liaise with staff and professionals to share student information.
9. Supervise students during breaks and educational visits, facilitating games and activities.
10. Physically assist students during activities like PE.
Additional Requirements
This role requires a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful applicants must pass all background checks, including an enhanced DBS check on the update service.
