What is the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Head of Offshore Development. This key role within the SSEN Transmission Development Directorate reports to the Director of Project Development and will be pivotal in the delivery of SSEN Transmissions growth to 2030 and beyond.
The key responsibilities for this role will be:
* Lead a team to develop a programme of high-value and complex HVDC and AC offshore Interconnector and onshore island projects, covering early design, site and route selection, surveys, design refinement, consenting, and initial procurement, ready to handover for execution
* Shape and contribute to Project Development strategy and Business Planning, ensuring SSENT has the technical, commercial, and offshore project development expertise to deliver its Business Plan and future transmission network needs
* Act as the focal point for engagement with Senior Stakeholders, including the UK Government, Scottish Government, Ofgem, statutory consultees, consenting bodies, and Contractors
* Design and develop project structures and resources to ensure safe development of projects on time, with effective governance, financial, commercial, quality, and risk management
What do I need?
To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:
* A degree in a relevant engineering discipline and/or substantial experience in the execution of Offshore Transmission Interconnector or Renewable Energy projects, or projects within another offshore industry
* Substantial experience in the execution of large and complex capital projects, including interface management for design, development, and execution of large and complex Offshore/Interconnector or Marine projects
* Knowledge and understanding of the Regulated Transmission business and working within joint venture structures
* Significant experience in managing and leading large multidisciplinary teams, demonstrating successful delivery of objectives
* Excellent communication skills and proven experience in managing diverse, executive-level stakeholders with an output-driven approach
* Experience in negotiating and delivering projects using NEC3, LOGIC, and FIDIC forms of contract, and knowledge as an Employer’s Representative in managing Engineer, Procure, Construct, Install (EPCI) contracts
