About the role
This is a fantastic opportunity for technology professionals who are looking to start or progress their career within IT.
The Technology Support Engineers sit within Technology Support, which is a corporate-wide service that aims to maximize the effective use of hardware (laptops, tablets, smartphones, desktops, etc.), productivity software, digital communications, including collaborative technologies, and digital information systems.
The team implements a toolkit of IT hardware, software, and licensing to meet agreed targets and deliver high-quality customer support. It is a practical role and requires some physical effort when moving IT hardware or setting up office spaces.
Our aim is to provide local support to our customers based in the community. Working for IT in North Yorkshire Council requires flexibility and self-motivation alongside active participation in teamwork.
There will be opportunities for hybrid working across many sites and some home working when required. Some travel will be necessary for this post, and a valid driving license is necessary.
Experience / Qualifications
* An understanding of IT industry best practices and procedures, change, incident, request fulfillment, and problem management processes.
* A good level of Windows operating system experience.
* Broad technical knowledge of PCs, laptops, peripherals, and their architecture.
* A working knowledge of current software packages – Microsoft Office, etc.
* ICT industry experience.
* Experience of working as part of a team.
