Location
* Regional Performance Centre, Dundee
You will be expected to undertake travel as necessary to fulfill your job requirements.
Casual Worker: Minimum 2hrs per week, evening sessions. Hourly rate dependent on experience and qualifications.
Overall Job Purpose:
To provide physical performance support for registered academy players from the Under 11 to Under 16 age groups.
Role Responsibilities & Key Duties
* Assist in the design and delivery of individual athletic development plans for academy players (U11 to U16).
* Work as part of a multi-disciplinary staff team (MDT) delivering academy coaching activity.
* Assist with testing and the delivery of weekly physical performance sessions.
* Contribute to pitch-related physical performance activity as required.
* Monitor growth and maturation rates of academy players, updating and maintaining records as required.
* Monitor loads and the performance of players in academy training and games activity.
* Work closely with the medical team and deliver rehab sessions as part of the academy ‘return to performance’ process for injured players.
* Assist in the trial assessment process of future academy players.
* Attend games programme activity when requested by the academy.
* Develop and maintain professional relationships with the parents/guardians of academy players.
* Work closely with the Head of Physical Performance in completion of your Coach Development Plan.
* Attend and contribute to all academy CPD events and provide input where required.
* Take responsibility for the care and maintenance of all equipment.
* Abide by all club policies including, but not exclusive to, Safeguarding, Equality and Health & Safety.
* Maintain a valid National Sports First Aid Certificate.
* Maintain a valid and up to date PVG every three years.
* Undertake such other duties as may reasonably be expected.
Qualifications
* BSc (Hons) in Sports Science, Strength & Conditioning or related field.
* Full Drivers licence with access to own vehicle.
* PVG check to be completed before appointment and maintained every 3 years.
* Currently undertaking or completed further education in relevant field (MSc additional courses).
* UKSCA accredited or working towards this.
* Child and Adolescent Mental Health course or equivalent.
* National Sports First Aid Certificate.
Experience, Training and Personal Qualities
* Previous experience of working with young athletes.
* Strong IT skills, particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
* Excellent communication skills specific to the age and stage of players and other relevant partners (e.g., parents, academy staff).
* Highly motivated and passionate about developing young athletes.
* Ability to relate to and understand young people, demonstrating personality and enthusiasm.
* Sensitive to the needs of young players and parents/guardians.
* Committed to working evenings and weekends including training sessions, fixtures, and CPD training.
* Experience of designing and developing long-term athletic development programmes.
* Knowledge of mental skills development in young people.
* Additional skills set to coaching that can enhance other areas of the academy/club.
