UK Service Line Markets Finance Lead - Associate Director
The Service Line Markets Finance Lead manages a mixed level team of PFAs (Portfolio Finance Advisors) and MBAs (Mercury Business Advisors) focused on the account and engagement landscape for their Service Line reporting into the Head of Markets Finance for their region. This role is responsible for the delivery of all Markets Finance related services to the SL and is a fantastic opportunity for you to play a leading role in helping to shape the Markets Finance Function at EY across the UK and Ireland business through influencing senior stakeholders and promoting the value that Markets Finance delivers to the business. They partner with the business to drive improved financial performance and deliver forward thinking advice and frameworks to enhance our pricing and margin strategy with clients across the Service Line business they support.
The opportunity
The Markets Finance Service Line Lead will have a deep understanding of the Service Line’s financial performance of their engagement landscape, stepping in to shape new solutions and focus their team’s efforts where there is the greatest need for their support. They will be a key business partner to the Service Line Leadership and Operations team and will operate as the primary point of contact for this group in relation to all Markets Finance related activity.
The Markets Finance Service Line Lead will be responsible for further embedding the Markets Finance roles in their Service Line and more broadly teaming with their peers to ensure best practice and knowledge sharing across the UKI Geo. He/she will ensure the SL MBA team are focused on offering the Business end-to-end support on the opportunity and engagement lifecycle whilst also managing the demands of the detect control environment within the SL. He/she will also ensure the PFA team are focused where there is greatest financial risk and opportunity with a strong focus on margin and enhancing engagement/portfolio performance.
The Markets Finance Service Line Lead will be part of a growing community of Markets Finance professionals as the model is deployed across the globe. Their knowledge and expertise gained in the role will be vital to ensure the successful expansion of the model through sharing lessons learned and supporting global to develop best practices for others to leverage.
Your key responsibilities
* Provides deep business insight related to the Service Line’s [engagement level] margin, revenue recognition and inventory performance
* Build and support the MBA team to ensure they are agile and flexible in their attitude to enable them to deliver a quality service to the business requirements
* Take overall responsibility for the Service Lines detect control environment ensuring the MBA teams focus is on the areas of greatest risk whilst also ensuring the team look to help the business improve their engagement metrics using their commercial acumen and deep knowledge of the Mercury solution.
* Focus the PFA team on scenarios and portfolios that are the most complex and material in nature
* Ensure the Service Line PFAs are deployed effectively in order that they always optimise and improve financial and commercial outcomes for CS driving an oversight by exception approach
* Work with the wider Markets Finance Leadership team to shape and/or refine oversight analytics to ensure focus is optimized in their Region
* Help embed the Nearshore/Offshore hub team members into the MBA and PFA team by building a sense of community within the Service Line team and more widely across the region and geo.
* Foster a positive and collaborative teaming relationship across all Markets Finance teams within the UK geography
Management responsibilities
* Manage to the team budget and drive recruitment efforts needed to build out a highly effective team
* Provides line management including performance management activities such as goal setting and reviews
* Structures and deploys a training strategy, tailoring the global framework as needed, to strengthen the team’s skills
* Encourages less experienced members of the team to achieve their full potential through identifying stretch opportunities
* Collaborates with other Markets Finance leaders to ensure the success of the overall Markets Finance operating model
* Actively leads and encourages sharing knowledge, success stories and overcoming challenges across the Markets Finance community
* Identify and coach a pipeline of talent across the wider team
Drives continuous improvement
* Takes the lead to shape new solutions and implement best practices across the Opportunity and engagement lifecycle which will provide greatest benefit to client servers
* Strong teaming with their peers, and Regional Heads of Markets Finance in order to validate decisions to adjust the Markets Finance model where needed
* Support SL MBA team and MBA On-demand manager to analyse [Service Now ticket] escalations and co-develop solutions to fill MBA knowledge gaps
* Actively seek feedback from Client Servers and other key stakeholders to improve the support being provided by the MBAs & PFAs for your Service Line
* Play a key role teaming with the other Markets Finance Leads across the Geo in shaping enhanced solutions which ensures global consistency
Analytical/Decision Making Responsibilities
* Providing financial and commercial guidance and performance management support to members of the Markets Finance team.
* Analysing large quantities of data in order to form and communicate a crisp view of the Service Line [engagement] landscape.
* Updating the Finance Leadership with insights of business trends affecting engagement level performance e.g. pricing, procurement pressures, areas of focus
* Assessing drivers of financial results with constant focus on improvement and rapid course correction strategies where needed
To qualify for the role, you must have
* Preference for minimum of five to seven years’ experience in a senior commercial and/or financial role
* Professional recognised global accounting qualification and/or relevant equivalent experience (QBE)
* Strong financial acumen with a proven ability to influence commercial drivers of business performance
* People management experience and able to demonstrate strong leadership skills and create high performing teams
