The job itself
The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the effective day to day operation of the Councils grounds maintenance services in accordance with pre-determined work schedules and standards determined by the Council. The role will be to provide clear direction to the work force and to ensure that services are provided on time to the highest possible standard.
This is a responsible role which requires a hard working, flexible individual with good organisation and customer service skills, along with the ability to effectively communicate with staff and ensure good morale across their team. Previous experience of grounds maintenance and horticultural services provided is essential. A good working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation affecting grounds related work including HAVS, COSHH Audiometry and PPE is also essential
You will be required to work overtime/weekends as part of the standby system covering out of hours emergencies and to deploy resources in response to emergency situations. When the service dictates, you will be required to work on Saturdays, and Bank/Public Holidays for which the appropriate enhancement will be paid. There is a requirement to work between Christmas and the New Year.
The geographical area to be covered is the Eastern area of the East Riding, incorporating Carnaby and Hedon, with the base of the role at the Carnaby depot. Good knowledge of the East Riding would be useful.
A full driving licence is essential.
