Making appointments for general surgeries and clinics over the telephone and at the reception desk using a computerized appointment system. Greeting patients and dealing with queries or signposting to the relevant member of staff, e.g., Doctor, District Nurse, Practice Nurse, etc.
Dealing with internal and external phone queries. Scanning and coding. Accepting, issuing, and ensuring that repeat prescriptions are signed and ready for collection within the specified time frame. Using own judgment and effective communication skills.
Assisting clinical staff with clerical work and booking appointments for patients with long-term conditions. Actioning tasks on a daily basis. Knowledge of coding and summarizing is advantageous.
Knowledge of how to perform referrals is advantageous.
