We are looking for an experienced, committed, and adaptable Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at HMS Drake Barracks, His Majestys (HM) Naval Base Devonport, Plymouth. This is a part-time position offering 20 hours per week.

Main duties of the job
This position is the senior clinical decision maker within the department. Without this post being filled there would be a significant reduction in the ability of the Defence Community Mental Health (DCMH) to provide clinical and advisory support or supervise other Mental Health activities.
Job responsibilities
The main duties include but are not limited to:
* Providing effective care, with an approach based on recovery and rehabilitation, to Service Personnel (SP) and entitled civilians, with timely access to skilled and effective assessment, treatment and occupational recommendations that meets the needs of the individual and the Chain of Command (CoC).
* Undertaking research in mental health and mental wellbeing.
* Acting in a command liaison role to support both case management and organisational initiatives, including health promotion aimed at mental wellbeing and welfare as resources allow.
* Providing clinical education to primary care staff to enhance their capability to manage mental health problems, and to support their responsibilities in addressing the mental wellbeing of all personnel.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* Certificate of Specialist Training or equivalent in General Adult or forensic Psychiatry
* Masters of Sciences (MSc) relevant to mental health
Experience
* Current/recent clinical experience
* Ability to travel independently to places of duty
* Full driving licence
Memberships
* GMC registration with licence to practice. Member or Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists or equivalent based on a foundation medical degree.
