Previously Derby Playhouse, we have a long and important theatrical history. As Derby Theatre, we work in partnership with the University of Derby. We produce new plays and projects, collaborate with artists and local people, and welcome higher education students and anyone who wants to learn.

Bursary: £15,000
Principal Function
This position will support us to tell the story of Derby Theatre as a Learning Theatre. You will focus on drawing out the positive impacts of our work in communities, with artists and with young people, on how we co-create our professional shows and, on the way, all this work interlinks. You will work with theatre makers, artists, participants and community members both within and outside of the building, to innovate and extend communications, reaching diverse new communities. The role will activate people to shout about our work and make them feel a part of what we do.
You will love telling stories and will have the skills to produce content which supports this work. You will engage others, encouraging them to be part of telling those stories too.
The postholder will be confident in communicating with people from across a range of backgrounds and will know about the latest ways of reaching and engaging new people particularly via social media and exciting and interactive content.
Key Responsibilities
* Create and co-create new content, including digital, to tell the story of the Learning Theatre. This will often include leading, supporting and working alongside participants.
* Support with producing, proofing, sharing, scheduling and distributing this content and messaging.
* Attend events and projects to understand the work and how we could communicate about it with new and existing target audiences/participants.
* Research and meet new groups to further the reach on particular shows, events and projects and to recruit Ambassadors.
* Work with the Learning, Marketing and Community teams to use existing data (quotes, statistics, case studies etc) to shape stories and content about previous work.
* Help to make links between our Community/Learning work with shows and opportunities that are relevant to particular people and groups.
* Develop and co-ordinate a Theatre Ambassador scheme, drawing people from across our programmes, ensuring that diverse voices are talking about our work.
* Communicate the story of the way the Learning Theatre works, and how we work with others to make our work exciting, inclusive and relevant to our audiences and participants.

* Build relationships with other professionals through our extensive network of theatres, cultural venues and through In Good Company, our Artist Development Programme.
