Teaching Assistant Position: Teaching Assistant Location: Derby Salary: £22,102.72 - £23,621.50 (FTE £25,729.60 - £28,059.60) Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent, Term time only Start Date: 1 st May 2025 Teaching Personnel have a fantastic opportunity to work with a specialist day school based in Derby. The school dedicated to providing outstanding education and support for children and young people aged 5-19 with ASC and SEMH needs. The Role Supporting the class teacher in delivering lessons and activities tailored to the needs of students. Providing one-to-one and small group support to help students engage in learning. Assisting with the implementation of Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs). Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation using agreed strategies. Helping to create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment. Supporting students with personal care, where necessary, in a dignified and respectful manner. Monitoring and recording student progress, contributing to reports and feedback for teachers and families Skills and Qualifications Experience working with children, ideally in a SEND or educational setting (desirable but not essential). A passion for supporting children with ASC and SEMH needs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships. Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. Relevant qualifications, such as Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, are desirable but not essential.
