About the role
As HL continues its digital journey, we are scaling up our Engineering capabilities within our Client Infrastructure team. Due to an internal promotion, we are seeking a skilled Senior Infrastructure Engineer with a proven track record in delivering and maintaining cloud solutions and on-premises solutions within an enterprise environment. You will be joining a highly skilled and committed technology team and will play a significant role in our technology transformation journey, working on our AWS Cloud infrastructure service migration. What you’ll be doing
1. Delivering a best-in-class service within a high performing infrastructure service team
2. Providing maintenance and deployment services across our AWS Cloud Platform and the on-premises VMware virtual environment
3. Leading Major Incident events, ensuring RCA is carried out for Incidents and Problems
4. Leading by example to create a culture of continuous service improvements
5. Working with the Client Infrastructure Technical Lead to help to develop our service strategy
6. Responsible for recording, managing, and approving changes in line with ITIL best practice
7. Creating, updating, and where appropriate, signing off documentation and knowledge items
8. Managing the relationship with 3rd party vendors to ensure the successful procurement and installation of services across the HL environment
9. Implementing and maintaining robust security controls within the cloud
10. Protecting sensitive data and ensuring compliance with data governance standards
About you
1. Experience working with AWS Cloud technology including EC2, Networking Technologies, AWS Migration Tooling and CloudWatch.
2. Experience with AWS Platform deployment and on-prem to cloud migration projects
3. Strong experience of on-premises Windows Server Platforms, products, and associated technologies including VMWare, Active Directory, WSUS etc
4. Familiarity with DevOps practices, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines, and related tools
5. Financial efficiency: Analysing system performance and providing reports to identify cost-saving opportunities
6. Highly organized with the ability to prioritize workload
7. Highly articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills
8. Qualified to AWS Cloud Practitioner
9. A willingness to provide on-call support services
Desirable:
1. Experience in scripting: Powershell, Terraform and Python
2. Defining business operational requirements and implementing service designs
3. Experience working in Financial Services
4. Qualified to AWS Solutions Architect or DevOps Engineer Expert (or equivalent)
5. Qualified to ITIL 4 Foundation
Interview process
The first stage will incorporate competency-based questions including an assessment of your technical knowledge and transferable skills. For candidates who progress to the second stage, there will be a presentation to prepare and deliver.
Salary
Circa £55,000pa depending on experience + on call allowance (circa £5,000) & benefits below
Working Schedule
This role is a permanent role, Monday – Friday 37.5 hours a week. We offer hybrid working whereby you’ll be required in the central Bristol office two days per week as a minimum.
