General information Reference 001630 Publication start date 18/02/2025 Application Closing Date 25/03/2025 Title Assistant Employment Advisor - Restart Service Area/School Place - Housing and Strategic Planning About Us Based at Atrium Court in Erith but soon to move to our main Council Civic Office in Bexleyheath, we have been providing support for unemployed and economically inactive Bexley residents for more than 25 years. We deliver a number of different employment support programmes to help break down the significant barriers to finding work that many people face. We offer a menu of support from which participants can choose from including individually tailored advice and guidance around job search and employment, support to gain employability skills, computerised job search facilities and access to local vacancies. About the Role As an Assistant Employment Advisor, you will support the employment and employer engagement advisors to prepare adult job seekers to move into employment. You will deliver business employability workshops, support job search sessions, both on a one to one and group basis and work with colleagues in the employer engagement team to find the right candidates for the business vacancies that they are managing. Provide preliminary information to target groups about the service and the employment support programmes we offer through the delivery of one to one appointments and introductory workshops as well as attendance at job fairs and outreach activities, as well as offsite delivery where required. Complete the required onboarding processes including the completion of client paperwork as prescribed by our external funders. Support and motivate clients in their job search activities providing assistance and information on vacancies, working interviews and pre-employment training as appropriate. Provide one to one and group support in the production and updating of CVs, including uploading to job search websites, application forms, interview techniques, job club and public access to on-line job sites. Arrange employment interviews and referrals for pre-employment training and vacancy sessions as necessary to help individuals progress skills and access employment. Support the management of company vacancies by accurately monitoring CV activity and shortlisting. Liaise with colleagues and partner organisations for the submission of candidates and providing accurate feedback to maximise recruitment and employment opportunities within the Borough. Maintain and update client information following the initial interview, updating the database and informing client advisors of updates and amendments. Assisting with in-work support tracking by contacting clients and/or employers by email and by phone to maximise outcome performance. Liaise with colleagues to maintain knowledge of opportunities and make referrals as appropriate. Attend events to support the Advisor Teams and outcomes for the service, some of which could be out of hours. Candidate Profile GCSE education A-C level English & maths or equivalent Appropriate professional qualification or willing to work towards Working in a recruitment or careers advisory environment having supported individuals to achieve employment goals using client action plans. A knowledge of the Welfare to Work benefits system. Using ICT packages - good knowledge of the Windows and Microsoft Office Suite packages together with an ability to understand and use databases. Understanding of issues that make accessing employment difficult and create barriers. Supporting legislation/best practice, including information security and data protection. Using different methods of communication to maintain engagement and progress clients into sustainable employment.
