Academy Youth - Goalkeeping Coaching Opportunity: St Johnstone FC

An opportunity has arisen within St Johnstone FC football academy. The football club is seeking a highly motivated, skillful, and enthusiastic individual to join our Youth Academy Coaching structure. This appointment is part-time, collaborating with young players aged U11 – U16.
Operating at our academy facility based at McDiarmid Park, Perth, you will play a key role in the goalkeeping coaching program, including the planning and delivery of coaching sessions in line with the Club’s philosophy and player development frameworks.
The individual must be able to provide an excellent service to young people and parents and show the necessary desire and commitment to develop professionally and continuously within the role.
Previous experience working with young players is preferable, and candidates should have excellent communication and organisational skills. Furthermore, applicants should possess the ability to set up, manage, and develop a learning environment where young people feel safe and confident.
Required Qualifications:
* Goalkeeping Coach B Licence holder.

Hourly/Salary Rate: Dependent on experience and qualifications, negotiable during the interview process.
Overall Purpose of Job:
To create an atmosphere where young players can express themselves and enjoy their specialist football education. This will be achieved by mutual respect between players and coaching staff along with a high standard of teaching and coaching input to the relevant age levels.
Support the implementation of the Head of Goalkeeping young goalkeeper’s development plan.
Help provide a model pathway for learning and development of young goalkeepers such that the opportunity for quality players to sign for St Johnstone Football Club is an achievable target.
Main Responsibilities/Description of Duties:
* To provide necessary goalkeeping coaching at a high standard for groups under his/her control.
* To evaluate personnel based on the role, objectives identified in assessment compared with actual performance.
* To ensure that all young goalkeepers receive a minimum of 50% of their training programme solely attributed to goalkeeping specialisms.
* Input coaching session details and match time in respect to goalkeepers in the programme weekly such that the central database can be populated accordingly.
* To assist in the identification and recruitment of new talent and continuous assessment of existing goalkeepers at all respective age levels by taking in appropriate games.
* Develop a positive relationship with young players and their parents or guardians within the development program.
* Identify goalkeepers available for each academy age level match and training session, ensuring responsibility is with each individual player to confirm his availability.
* Discuss with the Head of the Academy regarding the inclusion of players on trial in a particular squad. Ensure each trialist is notified of all relevant details of all coaching sessions/matches to be attended.
* Provide guidance to all academy goalkeepers on the club’s philosophy of healthy lifestyle, diet, drug awareness, education, and code of conduct.
* Produce a monthly analysis of matches played and training learning outcomes, verbal or written, for both the Head of Goalkeeping and Head of Academy covering all aspects regarding the development of the individual.
* Attend the required age level games program, providing warm up, feedback, and analysis.
* Attend training courses as directed by SFA, Head of the Academy, or Head of Goalkeeping.
Child Protection Responsibilities:
* Take necessary action via the Child Protection Officer if there is reasonable cause to suspect or believe a child or young person is being abused. Follow the club’s Child Protection Policy to ensure all reasonable steps are taken to minimize risk.
Experience/Qualifications/Training:
* UEFA B Goalkeeping Licence
* Scotland Disclosure Certification
* Child Wellbeing in Scottish Football Certification
* SFA First Aid Qualification
* Computer Skills, preferably Microsoft tools.
* Able to work independently and display initiative.
