We are seeking an experienced Automation Project Manager to lead projects from initial enquiry through to final handover.
Job Purpose
The Automation Project Manager will oversee the successful delivery of automation projects, ensuring completion on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role involves close collaboration with clients, suppliers, and internal teams to achieve project goals and exceed expectations.
Key Responsibilities
1. Project Management:
o Support the sales team during the enquiry and quotation phases.
o Manage projects from order placement through design, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, and handover.
o Develop and maintain detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
o Proactively monitor progress, identifying risks and implementing mitigation strategies.
2. Stakeholder Engagement:
o Act as the main point of contact for stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
o Provide regular updates on project progress and milestones.
o Address and resolve feedback to ensure satisfaction and alignment with objectives.
3. Technical Oversight:
o Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure technical specifications are met.
o Oversee technical reviews to ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.
o Resolve technical challenges across all project phases.
4. Supplier & Resource Management:
o Manage supplier and subcontractor relationships to ensure timely delivery.
o Coordinate internal and external resources effectively to achieve project goals.
o Manage procurement to maintain cost efficiency.
5. Team Leadership:
o Lead multidisciplinary project teams, aligning objectives and timelines.
o Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members.
o Foster a collaborative and innovative work environment.
6. Quality and Compliance:
o Ensure all projects adhere to quality, safety, and environmental standards.
o Carry out lessons learned throughout the project lifecycle.
Qualifications and Skills
Essential:
* Degree in Engineering or equivalent qualifications in engineering with supporting experience.
* Proven experience in project management within automation, manufacturing, or engineering.
* Strong understanding of automation systems, industrial solutions, and processes.
* Understanding of machinery controls, software, and hardware.
* Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., MS Project or similar).
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Knowledge of European and UK standards, including:
* Machinery Directive
* PUWER Regulations
* Construction Design & Management Regulations
* Understanding of health, safety, and environmental standards.
* Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
Desirable:
* Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar.
* Experience in the automotive or intralogistics sectors.
* Knowledge of CAD software and automation system design.
