Lead Electrical Systems Engineer (Automotive Powertrain)
Location: Hybrid Midlands
Salary: £65-80K
Company: EV Start-up (circa £100 million in funding)
Are you a Lead or Senior Electrical Systems Engineer looking for a new challenge to lead a start-up to scalable manufacturing? Do you want your work to have a positive impact in the world? Excited by start-up or low volume environments set for growth?
The Role
My client is looking for an experienced Lead Electrical Systems Engineer to join the team as they move from prototype and development to production. The EV vehicles they are building are designed for on-and off-road performance and therefore face some unique challenges from a development perspective. However, they do have advantages in terms of fast feedback loops, high-quality data collection, and an iterative approach.
You’ll be:
1. Designing and building electrical systems with bespoke components like harnesses or high/low voltage integrations.
2. Working with buyers to ensure that suppliers are delivering to requirements, ensuring robust procedures are in place for verification, testing, and installation.
3. Implementing processes for effective batch production as production ramps up.
4. Providing a crucial interface with other cross-functional teams to ensure roadmap alignment.
This is an early-stage startup environment where everybody pitches in and helps the team deliver.
Experience Needed
1. Significant experience working on EV electrical architecture systems.
2. Ability to lead projects and teams.
3. Experience in designing test and release processes on past projects.
4. Proficiency in Matlab Simulink; exposure to Vector Canape is ideal, but training will be provided.
5. Solution-oriented mindset with a can-do attitude.
6. Understanding of Engineering within an Agile environment.
7. Ability to work onsite 2-3 days a week.
Why Join?
You’ll have significant influence over the electrical systems and the ways of working within the team. The impact of your work will be quickly apparent through fast feedback loops and an iterative approach. You'll take ownership and develop influence within the powertrain team and beyond, tackling a wide range of engineering challenges and enjoying plenty of freedom to innovate. Benefits include:
* Unlimited holidays
* Pension
* Training budget
