This is a key role within the financial accounting team, providing technical accounting expertise and supporting the delivery of a complex year-end process, tax compliance and continuous process improvement. In this role, you will: Support the preparation of the organisation’s statutory accounts, including consolidation returns. Maintain and analyse accurate accounting records, including reconciliations and relevant journal entries. Monitor and review key financial controls, including those operated by outsourced providers. Prepare and submit VAT and CIS returns in line with deadlines. Assist with the delivery of internal and external audits by providing clear, well-evidenced support and liaising with Auditors. Champion process improvement, identifying ways to streamline systems and reporting procedures. Build strong relationships across Finance and the wider organisation to ensure the relevance and effectiveness of financial information. This is a hybrid role offering flexible working and requires you to travel into Birmingham once a week. The successful candidate will: Be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent). Have solid experience in financial accounting and financial reporting. Possess strong knowledge of VAT and experience preparing tax returns. Be confident in interpreting large volumes of financial data and spotting anomalies. Be a proactive learner who enjoys solving problems and improving systems. Have experience working with ERP systems and be proficient in Excel.
