Our client is looking for an experienced Upholsterer to join their team on a permanent basis in the Hastings area. You will become part of an experienced team that designs and manufactures high-end furniture.
Main Duties
1. Interpreting design orders and creating upholstery stencils.
2. Selecting and sourcing upholstery materials.
3. Dismantling furniture for upholstery preparation.
4. Measuring and cutting leather or fabric with the aid of design stencils.
5. Installing foam and batting to the furniture framework.
6. Installing and repairing furniture webbing and springs.
7. Stretching out and installing fabric or leather coverings.
8. Stitching, gluing, and nailing fabric into place.
9. Smoothing out imperfections.
10. Conducting quality checks on completed orders.
Additional responsibilities include:
1. Ability to work at a fast pace while continuing to produce goods to a high standard.
2. Punctuality and the ability to meet targets.
3. Ability to work in a team.
4. Ensuring that the company’s Health and Safety Policies are rigorously applied and complied with.
5. Compliance with the company’s policies and directives.
6. Due to the nature of the position, you will be required to lift goods, so you must have the ability to do so.
7. You will be on your feet for long periods of time.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
1. Proven work experience as an upholsterer.
2. Detail-oriented.
3. Ability to draw and interpret design templates.
4. Knowledge of upholstery tools including hot knives, nail guns, and sewing equipment.
5. Ability to lift, pull, and manipulate heavy objects.
6. Ability to stand, kneel, and walk for up to eight hours a day.
Working Hours
Monday to Friday.
