The Role As a Principal Ecologist, you’ll be a driving force in building the South Wales ecology team while collaborating closely with the wider South West Ecology group. You’ll lead critical projects, mentor upcoming talent, and take ownership of business development. Your role will involve: Leading ecological surveys and assessments, including Ecological Impact Assessments and Mitigation Strategies. Scoping, designing, and managing projects across various sectors, ensuring successful outcomes. Building strong client relationships, helping to grow your portfolio and secure new opportunities. Mentoring junior & senior ecologists and fostering a positive, growth-focused team culture. Essential Attributes Expertise & Experience : With a solid background in ecology or biological sciences, you’ll bring in-depth knowledge of UK ecological legislation and planning policies. Survey Skills : Proficiency in extended Phase I/UKHabs surveys and specialized species assessments, along with holding Welsh Licences, is desirable. Leadership : You’ll have a proven track record of managing projects and teams, delivering on time and within budget while exceeding client expectations. Client-Focused : Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with a knack for building lasting client relationships.
