About the Opportunity Nuclear Power Programmes is one of the newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power. Operational throughout the UK and across continental Europe, we are seeking to expand our team on a variety of nuclear projects, which range in technologies and that find themselves at different stages of their development. The Infrastructure Director will provide leadership in respect of Enabling & Earthworks / Marine & Tunnelling / Permanent Roads & Networks, which form part of the £9bn Civil Works Programme, ensuring delivery to Safety, Quality, Schedule and Cost. The role reports to the SZC Civil Works Programme Director and supports their responsibilities for the direction and leadership of all activities associated with the full life cycle delivery of the Civil Works Programme (i.e. delivery of all engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning activities to safety and quality requirements, and in accordance with the overall Project schedule). As Infrastructure Director you will provide SZC line management oversight for the Section Heads of Delivery and Senior Project Managers, in Enabling & Earthworks, Marine & Tunnelling and Permanent Roads & Networks, working closely the Deputy Programme Director & Owner Interface Director. This role will be a key part of the Civil Works Programme leadership team and will form part of the Cabinet structure. Key responsibilities: - Embedding SZC safety culture, all values and behaviours across all work scopes. - Operational leadership acting as the Intelligent Client working in close collaboration with the CWA to ensure oversight, performance management and assurance of the agreed scope of work in line with the schedule, budget, quality, and safety requirements. - Responsible for building relationships with senior external stakeholders such as HMG, the wider nuclear community and supply chain - Facilitation of the Hold Points within SZC that impact the delivery of the works associated with Enabling & Earthworks, Marine & Tunnelling, Main Civils & Ancillary Works. - Management of all activities (including those of the CWA) which could have an impact on nuclear safety. - Effective coordination and alignment of the activities of the CWA that will allow them to undertake the Works in the most efficient manner. - Discharging of your Delegation of Authority (DOA) in a timely and efficient manner in line with the agreed CWP and SZC Co authority and protocols. - Expediting any changes in scope, schedule, budget, or design through the appropriate SZC Co governance (listed below) and where appropriate, approve change within their delegated financial and technical authority. Here's What You'll Need - Significant experience in programme management on major infrastructure projects, with some experience of the nuclear sector. - Experience of working at a leadership level within the major projects sector. - Delivery of major & complex projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security and environmental responsibility. - Experience of successfully engaging executive management and groups of stakeholders. - Experienced in managing contractors, consultants and other advisors throughout large and complex construction projects, in a heavily regulated environment. - Able to demonstrate strong leadership & management skills including engineering management, programme & project management, schedule management, financial management, change management and facilitation whilst maintaining a clear focus on the nuclear safety culture. - Excellent leadership, management, organisation, presentation, influencing and facilitation skills. - Degree in engineering, construction or another related field. - Good knowledge of CDM Regulations. - Knowledge of delivery in either heavy civil engineering or infrastructure major projects with some knowledge of nuclear sector preferable.
