Our Geoscience team:
Venterra’s Geoscience team is made up of market-leading experts from Ordtek, GDG, and Partrac. We offer unparalleled site characterisation, geoscience management, sediment processes, UXO management, and GIS and data services, tailored to meet the comprehensive needs of our clients.
Role Description:
The UXO Assistant Archivist will work closely with the UXO Data Archivist to maintain and enhance the Ordtek UXO database (the Vault 2.0) in accordance with industry best practice. They will assist with undertaking research and collating UXO-related data.
The role may require travel to various archives or sites to undertake research and obtain primary sources for referencing. Travel and occasional additional working hours may be required in order to facilitate opening hours of Archives at variable distance from the Ordtek head office.
This role is site-based at the Hethel Engineering centre and own transport is essential as there is no public transport to site.
Responsible to: UXO Data Archivist
Key Responsibilities:
* Aiding the UXO Data Archivist in writing area / country specific “Historical UXO Precedents”.
* Researching missing UXO Technical or historic information, as directed by the UXO Data Archivist.
* Answering general UXO questions as required.
* Reviewing both historical and non-historical digital content for formatting issues, or other problems that affect its usability in reports or marketing material.
* Data cleaning and transformation. Creating full metadata and change log records for all changes made.
* Reasonable additional responsibilities as may be required in line with business needs.
Key Skills/Experience/Competencies:
Essential
* Experience in traditional and digital research methods.
* Degree in Military History or Archaeology related degree.
* Report writing skills.
* Excel data cleaning and transformation skills.
* Ability to work methodically and with attention to detail.
* Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
* Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities.
* Problem-solving Skills
Desirable
* Passion for Military History/Weapons of war.
* Prior UXO/EO/ERW or ordnance knowledge or experience.
* GIS experience.
Education/Qualifications:
Military History or Archaeology related degree and demonstrable knowledge of modern military history.
