We are looking for a Senior Engineering Surveyor to join our Infrastructure Water team in Cambridge.
You will provide engineering technical direction to the mechanical discipline engineers and ensure an effective team is maintained to integrate all mechanical design elements across all zones & phases of the scheme and ensure right first-time functionality through design, construction, commissioning and takeover. You will also provide design support for the Cambridge Relocation Project as required and ensure all designs are fit for purpose and meet current legislation and standards.
What you'll do:
* Lead and develop the mechanical design team to create industry-leading engineering solutions.
* Be a key member of the Engineering Leadership Team (ELT), reporting directly to the Engineering Director.
* Innovate and adopt new work methods to reduce carbon, enhance biodiversity, tackle climate change, and incorporate digital technologies.
* Expand professional networks with internal and external partners.
* Assist in appointing and managing specialist contractors to meet cost, time, quality, and safety requirements.
* Contribute to the project design management plan and ensure team members understand their roles.
* Oversee the production and coordination of the mechanical design programme and deliverables schedule throughout the project.
* Collaborate with project planners to integrate mechanical design deliverables into the construction programme.
What you'll bring to the role:
* An engineering degree or equivalent, or demonstrable degree-level knowledge through relevant experience.
* Preferably chartered or working towards chartered status.
* Competence in practical mechanical engineering within the water/wastewater industry environment.
* Experience mentoring and coaching junior engineers.
* Experience designing multi-disciplinary water industry capital projects, from solution to detailed design.
* Experienced manager of people and teams, developing others, and managing staff welfare.
