POSITION SUMMARY: The primary focus of this position will be to closely collaborate with all the stakeholders of project development – Project Management, Solution Architects, development teams, QA, documentation in order to meet the specified requirements of a given software project. This role is responsible to ensure the project releases adhere to agreed schedule, scope and budget. This position will manage the development and deployment of new warehouse and distribution center automation solutions throughout the project lifecycle.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
1. Apply engineering concepts in accordance with Fortna’s engineering objectives to drive the development and deployment of creative, effective and timely software solutions within the triple constraints of schedule, scope & budget.
2. Preparing, publishing, distributing and maintaining detailed project schedules via the Work Breakdown Structure.
3. Liaising with project stakeholders on an ongoing basis.
4. Setting and continually managing project expectations with sprint teams and other stakeholders.
5. Interfacing with multiple groups within a lifecycle which include: internal sprint teams, external stakeholders and end users
6. Identifying managing and controlling the change control process both with internal and external stakeholders.
7. Assuming responsibilities for risk management and risk mitigation
8. Tracking project costs and preparing associated forecasts
9. Ensuring that project releases are completed to design specifications and as per the “Definition of Done”
10. Managing issues as they arise; creating and tracking punch lists as necessary
11. Traveling to project sites as necessary to facilitate successful project implementation.
12. Creating and managing project records; archiving proper files for retention through Fortna’s Data Management System.
13. Attending internal and external project meetings.
14. Conducting project post-mortems and prepare recommendations report identifying successful and unsuccessful project elements.
15. Participate and help drive continuous process improvements and adoption to ensure delivery of extremely high-quality software projects.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
16. Bachelor’s degree in software engineering, computer science, or a related field
17. 4 - 7 years of technical experience with project management
18. Cross functional team management experience
19. Strong understanding of software principles and methodologies.
20. Ability to employ persuasion/negotiation skills with discretion and consideration
21. Project costing and forecasting experience
22. Risk management and risk mitigation experience
23. Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
24. Highly motivated, directed and a team player.
25. Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
26. Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
27. Excellent written and oral communication skills
28. Strong interpersonal, organizational, time management and problem-solving skills
29. PMP certification
30. Ability to travel nationally and internationally in the range of 10-40% of the time
31. Ability to perform essential functions of the job
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
32. Industrial automation, software, and/or material handling experience
33. Business degree is preferred, but not required
34. Scrum certification
WORKING CONDITIONS When duties are performed in a typical office environment, extended periods of sitting at a desk and viewing a computer screen will be required. Also required is the ability to talk and hear, in person and by telephone; use of hands to handle, feel, or operate standard office equipment; and ability to reach with hands and arms. When travelling to Client sites, essential requirements of this position may require physical presence in various environments and locations. Physical stamina may be required for prolonged standing, bending, stooping, and/or working in cramped quarters. Exposure to potentially dangerous tools and equipment amidst a variety of building materials is probable, as is occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the work environment can vary from being relatively quiet, to moderate, to excessive. Safety shoes or boots may be required in certain situations. Additional safety clothing including gloves, hardhats, and devices to protect eyes, mouth, or hearing, will be worn as necessary.
