The Maintenance Electrician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and equipment across the facility. The role involves performing routine inspections, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and supporting production operations by minimizing electrical downtime. This position requires a strong technical understanding of electrical systems and the ability to work independently and as part of a team to keep the plant or facility operating smoothly. Key Responsibilities: Electrical System Installation & Maintenance: Install, maintain, and repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures in commercial or industrial environments. Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical faults in machinery, control systems, lighting, motors, and other electrical components. Perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns. Modify or upgrade existing electrical systems to meet new operational needs or safety regulations. Troubleshooting & Repair: Identify and repair electrical issues in production equipment, HVAC systems, lighting, control panels, and other electrical systems. Respond quickly to electrical failures or outages to minimize downtime and production delays. Use diagnostic tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and electrical testers to pinpoint issues and verify repairs. Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all electrical codes, safety standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, OSHA) when performing electrical work. Maintain a safe work environment by following safety protocols and using appropriate PPE (Personal Protective Equipment). Ensure electrical systems and installations meet the company’s quality standards and local building codes. Perform lockout/tagout procedures to ensure the safety of maintenance personnel when working on live circuits. Preventative Maintenance: Participate in the facility’s preventive maintenance program, conducting regular inspections of electrical equipment and systems. Keep detailed records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and upgrades. Replace worn-out or damaged parts (e.g., fuses, breakers, wires) to avoid future issues and ensure reliable operations. Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with maintenance teams, production staff, and supervisors to address electrical issues that impact operations. Communicate effectively with team members to ensure electrical problems are resolved efficiently and safety measures are followed. Assist in training and mentoring junior electricians or apprentices when needed. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of electrical maintenance activities, including repair logs, work orders, and parts inventory. Report electrical system performance and safety concerns to the Maintenance Supervisor or Facilities Manager. Emergency Response: Provide emergency electrical support during equipment breakdowns or facility power outages. Assist with troubleshooting and restoring power to critical systems to minimize downtime and operational disruptions. Inventory & Equipment Management: Keep track of electrical parts, tools, and equipment, ensuring stock levels are maintained and tools are properly calibrated. Assist in ordering replacement parts or new equipment as needed to support maintenance operations. Qualifications: Education & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship or vocational training program in electrical work is required. years of experience as an electrician, with a focus on maintenance in an industrial or commercial setting. Familiarity with industrial machinery, electrical panels, and PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers) is preferred. Skills & Abilities: In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, circuits, wiring, and safety standards. Ability to read electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals. Proficient in using hand and power tools, diagnostic equipment, and electrical testing devices. Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to solve complex electrical issues. Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple work orders simultaneously. Good communication and interpersonal skills, able to work well with a team and provide clear updates to supervisors.
