The Pattern Maker/Garment Technologist will play a pivotal role within the company from creating and modifying patterns on both existing blocks and creating new ones. They will be required to work closely with the Design and Development Team to translate their vision into patterns that are production friendly for all departments within production.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Translating the designers’ sketches/technical packs into a garment by collaborating with the Design and Development Team from concept of design through to production whilst ensuring the garment is production compatible and functional.
2. Making patterns using AccuMark Explorer and Pattern Design via Gerber Technology and grading them into production.
3. Creating clear and concise technical information required for each pattern, including pattern measurement chart and construction detail.
4. Organising fit sessions from Proto and PPs samples and ensuring these follow O’Neills standard sizing and body measurements to ensure consistency of fit.
5. Comprehensive knowledge of sizing garment/making garments/checking garments and making sure they are to spec.
SKILL / REQUIREMENTS
1. Minimum of 3-5 years experience in pattern cutting in a fast-paced environment.
2. Qualification to degree level or similar with a Fashion Design/Textile management.
3. Excellent pattern cutting knowledge across all methods - Block Manipulation, Draping/Sampling and Computer Literacy in Gerber Pattern Design.
4. Excellent understanding of garment construction within a production environment.
5. Exceptional analytical skills in Pattern Design and a deep understanding of technical fabrics and performance gear.
6. Adaptive to change, excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, ambition and effective communication skills.
7. Confident in decision making and have the ability to perform effectively under pressure and within timescales.
8. A good knowledge of Men’s/Ladies and Kids apparel in a production environment and helping with Q/C issues.
9. Be able to work under tight deadlines and cope with pressure. Must have the ability to work alone as well as in a team.
10. High attention to detail with focus on precision in pattern creation, ensuring the final garment is as close to the designer’s vision as possible while being production ready.
11. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Teams, and a willingness to stay current with the latest trends and innovations in pattern making and garment technology.
DESIRABLE
1. Knowledge of 3D (CLO) Patterning.
2. Good understanding of Jersey Fabrics and woven fabrics.
3. Understanding of Gemini/Sublimation design.
4. A good knowledge of Sportswear product.
5. Valid Driving License.
6. Ability and willingness to travel when necessary.
