About the School:
Our partner school, part of a multi-academy trust, is seeking to recruit a SEN teaching assistant who has a passion for supporting children with social, emotional, and mental health difficulties.
The school provides a nurturing educational experience for children identified as having social, emotional, and mental health needs. With a focus on creating a safe and supportive environment, the school offers students the opportunity to enjoy a full educational experience where they can thrive emotionally and physically. While primarily catering to children with SEMH needs, the school also provides additional and/or different provisions for a range of other needs, including cognition and learning needs, communication and interaction needs, sensory and/or physical needs, and moderate learning difficulties.
Role and Responsibilities:
* Supervising and providing support for pupils with special needs, ensuring their safety and access to learning activities.
* Setting challenging and demanding expectations and promoting self-esteem and independence.
* Providing feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance of the teacher.
* Assisting with the planning of learning activities.
* Monitoring pupils’ responses to learning activities and accurately recording achievement/progress as directed.
* Promoting good pupil behaviour, dealing promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy and encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their own behaviour.
Requirements:
* Devotion and resilience to support children with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
* Previous experience working with children with SEMH needs is desirable.
* Ability to motivate students towards high achievement.
* Commitment to fulfilling the needs of pupils experiencing behavioural, emotional, or learning difficulties, and social communication difficulties.
