Mechanical Fitter – Temp to perm
Based – Anglesey
Salary - £13.84ph
Expected start date: Immediate (Notice period dependant)
The Role: We are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical Fitter due to the expansion of product lines and growth of our client's sales. The ideal candidate must have welding experience, be time served, and possess minimum GCSE and City and Guilds/ONC qualifications. A Mechanical Fitter with a minimum of 3 years’ experience within an Engineering/Manufacturing background is required, along with a proven record of work of varying complexities.
Potential Day-to-Day Duties:
1. Assembling various components to drawing following a works order/Job Sheet.
2. Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.
3. Install, maintain, and repair machinery and equipment.
4. Resolve problems encountered providing effective solutions such as tolerance issues and volume production/output constraints.
5. Collaborate with engineers and other team members to improve mechanical systems and processes.
6. Check the quality of your work and your colleagues’ work with various hand measurement equipment such as vernier callipers or gauges performing first offs and sample checks.
7. Interpret technical drawings to build various products and compare these against the technical spec.
8. Deburring many different metal components with pillar drills, linishers, belt sanders, and a rumbler.
9. Using press tools both manual and hydraulic to assemble, straighten and press different parts and assemblies together.
10. Work with the team to improve productivity every day.
11. Setting up jobs for new manufactured parts for welding, fitting, linishing, etc.
Experience:
* Mechanical knowledge: 3 years (required)
* Hand tools: 3 years (required)
* Welding: 3 years (preferred)
Health & Safety:
1. Follow Group and company policies and procedures at all times.
2. Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery, or risk to health and safety, or the environment.
3. Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received.
4. Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and/or via your divisional incident reporting system.
5. Take personal responsibility for Health & Safety matters.
Environmental:
1. Ensure all sites are compliant with the latest legislation.
2. Promote the environmental committee and all internal communications regarding the Environmental Policy.
3. Participate in prescribed training programmes to familiarise yourself with the requirements of the Company Environmental Policy.
4. Make suggestions to improve and protect the environment within the site to the appropriate Manager or Supervisor concerned, or to the Environmental Co-Ordinator.
5. Co-operate with the Company’s recycling programmes.
6. Co-operate with the Company’s energy programme.
7. Where possible, reduce waste within your area of work.
Training:
1. Undertake any external/internal training as identified by the systems.
2. Attend a PDR with your Line Manager and agree and take ownership of your training and development needs.
3. Attend Company and Legislative Training Courses as requested.
4. Ensure that all Waste Certification is current and the latest training has been undertaken.
General Responsibilities:
1. Take adequate steps to ensure the security of Company and Client property and monies under your control.
2. Comply with any reasonable instruction from your line manager within the agreed deadline.
3. Comply with all Company policies/procedures and client site rules and regulations.
4. Carry out other reasonable tasks as directed by management.
The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by the needs of the business, and as your experience of product knowledge grows.
Hours of Work: 37.5hr Week - Monday to Thursday 8am – 16.30, Friday 7am-12.30pm, Overtime Weekend availability.
