This is a key role in the DWP Annual Report and Accounts team focusing on the financial management of the Social Fund and associated statutory financial reporting. The team is based within the Financial Control & Policy division of DWP Finance Group. This role will involve working with partners across Finance, the wider Department and our shared service provider SSCL to ensure accurate and timely provision of information. You will work closely with National Audit Office to lead the audit of the Social Fund Account.
Main duties include:
* Leading the preparation of the Social Fund White Paper Account for review and external audit.
* Support the delivery of robust evidence required by the Client Liaison Schedules and additional queries raised for NAO’s planning, interim and final audits.
* Liaison with internal and external stakeholders to ensure accurate audit evidence is provided to agreed timescales.
* Development of controls to ensure consistency and accuracy of the various inputs e.g. checking supplied audit evidence is complete and reconciliation of various data sources.
* Oversight of monthly reporting for effective management of Social Fund expenditure, debt and work activities.
* Supply of monthly outturn and bi-annual supply estimates to ensure efficient management of the fund.
* Management and reporting of audit recommendations.
* Ensuring Social Fund data is retained in accordance with data security, GDPR and DWP Policy.
* Maintain and improve professional competence in the understanding and application of the body of knowledge for Government Accounting.
* Management of HEO Generalist (Trainee).
Hybrid working
This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home.
This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need, but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account.
This role can only be delivered from the UK.
