Summary
In this role as a Semi-Skilled Operator, you will be responsible for a variety of different duties within the composites value stream.
1. Triage Operator
2. Paint Operator
3. Debag Operator
4. Inserts Operator
Duties
Triage
5. Triaging countersinks, including measuring and re-countersinking as required, pre-delivery
6. Installation of metallic inserts to composite detail panels using a variety of resin systems
7. Edge sealing panels in preparation for painting, using a variety of resin system
8. Read and accurately follow work instructions, specifications and part drawings (accessed via PC)
9. Accurately complete work route cards to maintain component traceability
10. Contribute to reducing the scrap levels within the business
Paint
11. Application of Primer paint schemes to a variety of Metallic, composite components.
12. Application of resin and fillers to components in accordance with customer specifications and control
13. Manual abrading and use of orbital sander
14. Masking and stencilling of Aircraft Details In accordance with technical drawings and work instructions
15. Mixing of fillers, paints and resins in line with manufacturer instructions and COSHH requirements
16. Operating cure booths and monitoring the paint cure cycles
17. Testing of painted surfaces by means of Tape, Isoscope.
Debag
18. Mould Tool preparation for the composite lamination / lay-up process
19. De-Bag & Part Mark after the curing process
20. Preparing Numerically Controlled (NC) fixtures for trimming
21. Operating various machinery (Forklift, Hubtex, AGV & MGV) for the movement of fixtures
22. Batch preparing damming for use in the clean room
23. Mixing of filler and blue ice when requested for use within lamination / lay-up process
24. Movement of panels from post trim to the next process, ensuring all panels are made hand safe prior to movement
25. Operating the MES system and ensure panels are located correctly
26. Raising Deficiency Reports (DRs) as required
27. Recording panel countersink measurement for data collection
28. Mould Tool & Part movement around the composite facility

33. Operate under own initiative and work with minimal supervision

Requirements
* Previous experience of composite detail manufacture, drilling, countersinks etc.
* Experience working with composite carbon fibre and similar materials
* Good level of dexterity
* Competent in numeracy and literacy skills, and able to read and understand technical documentation
* Good knowledge of health and safety
* Good communication skills
* Drive to succeed as an individual and as part of a team
* Positive approach to problem solving
* Willing to learn and adapt with a strong focus on flexibility
* Self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude
* Excellent time keeping
* Previous experience of composite detail manufacture and/or working with composite carbon fibre and similar materials would be an advantage but not essential
