Position : Planner
Reports to: Planning Team Leader
Role Overview: Based at our Tallington site the Planner is responsible for coordinating and managing projects, ensuring that timelines, budgets and objectives are met. This role involves analysing date, forecasting trends, and collaborating with various stakeholders to develop effective strategies. The successful candidate will have the following responsibilities:
Key Accountabilities:
* Working closely with the Customer Service, Production and Logistics departments to ensure customer requirements and demands are met in a time and efficient manner.
* Developing a detailed, time based, production schedule in response to customer requirements.
* Supplying the Production department with manufacturing plans and Works Orders that meet customer requirements and ensure the necessary labour, materials and capacity are available to meet demands.
* Reviewing and monitoring work schedules and capacity planning systems to identify capacity constraints and bottlenecks.
* Resolving issues in a timely manner to prevent delays in the shipment of goods to customers.
* Maintaining inventory stock level of sub assembly and finished goods in line with lead times
* Providing regular progress reports to Management including recommendations for production and team-based efficiency improvements
* Reviewing planned vs actual percentages attained on a daily basis.
* Actively look for improvements to the planning process within the business & offering support for new initiatives
* Reporting & analysis to identify potential problems in planning schedule.
* Exception/suggestion messages to alert to potential issues or blockages in the planning schedule.
Associated Responsibilities:
* Evaluate project outcomes and processes to identify areas for improvement.
* Ensure that all planning activities and processes comply with relevant laws and regulations.
* Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies.
* Prepare regular reports on project status, challenges, and achievements for stakeholders.
* All other duties as deemed necessary by the Planning Team Leader.
Experience and Training:
* Willingness to travel across all sites.
* Mathematically and statistically inclined and able to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of business operations.
* Excellent communication and presentation skills are essential, and the successful candidate will also be able to manage their own time, be action oriented, resilient, and resourceful.
* Have knowledge of general manufacturing processes and be a natural problem solver.
* A third level qualification in Planning or similar qualification is desirable.
* Having undertaken training in a project lead capacity is desirable.
Essential Criteria:
* A minimum of five GCSE, including English and Mathematics, or equivalent.
* Previous experience working in a similar role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
* Proficient in the MS Office suite including Access as well having experience in ERP systems.
