Analytical Scientist In Training
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Booking and preparing laboratory samples (urine, swab, and blood).
2. Daily operation of high-throughput serological and molecular analysers.
3. Performing manual confirmatory assays.
4. Supporting the Analytical Scientists' team in validation and verification processes.
5. Acting as the first point of contact for laboratory technicians in the absence of a Pre-Analytical Team Leader or Analytical Scientist.
6. Logging, resolving, and reporting problem samples.
7. Reporting to and liaising with the Laboratory Manager and Pre-Analytical and Analytical Team.
8. Ensuring continuous compliance with the Quality System and ISO 15189 accreditation.
9. Participating in External Quality Assessment (EQA) and Internal Quality Assessment (IQA) programs.
10. Maintaining laboratory records, including but not limited to quality control records, equipment records, nonconformance reports, and CAPA documentation.
11. Conducting acceptance testing for all equipment, reagents, and consumables, and ensuring ongoing equipment functionality, including calibration and mapping.
12. Maintaining a high degree of accuracy and precision in all methods and procedures by incorporating and promoting good laboratory practice principles.
13. Adhering to laboratory policies, including but not limited to confidentiality, data protection, code of conduct, and waste disposal.
14. Managing, validating, and receiving stock.
15. Assisting Analytical Scientists in ensuring all maintenance, calibration, and servicing activities are completed correctly and on time.
16. Performing general laboratory duties and housekeeping, including analyser maintenance and waste disposal.
17. Keeping all laboratory work areas clean and organised.
18. Handling and correctly disposing of confidential and hazardous waste streams.

Required Skills and Experience
1. Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Biomedical Science, Life Sciences, or a related field.
2. Experience working in a laboratory environment, preferably in a pharmaceutical or diagnostic setting.
3. Proficiency in handling and preparing biological samples.
4. Proficiency in maintaining laboratory records.
5. Excellent attention to detail with a high level of accuracy and precision in laboratory work.
6. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
7. Strong understanding of quality management systems and compliance with ISO 15189 accreditation.
