A Vacancy at University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust.
An opportunity has arisen for a maternity leave cover for a Ward Manager on Starlight Ward; our 17 bedded Haematology, Oncology (HOB) and BMT Unit within BRHC.
As the Principle Treatment Centre for the South-west here at BRHC we care for children across the South-west and work closely with the Operational Delivery Network and our hospital teams within the region.
We have an extended MDT within the HOB speciality as well as our BRHC Faculty of Nurse Education and there are many avenues for clinical support and development.
A dedicated Sisters Forum operates monthly within BRHC and if successful you would have the opportunity to gain peer support and networking throughout BRHC fostering a hospital wide focus for our leadership team.
We would welcome applications from enthusiastic, dynamic and visible leaders with a proven track record of management and organisational skills and the ability to demonstrate exceptional clinical leadership. Creative thinking and problem-solving skills are essential and, although desirable, experience within the field of Paediatrics or HOB are not essential. Full-time would be preferred but part-time options would be considered.
The sister/charge nurse is accountable and responsible for the 24 hour care delivery and management of the ward/area. The sister/charge nurse will promote and monitor safe and effective practice, enhance the patient experience, provide effective leadership and management, and contribute to the delivery of the Trust/Divisional objectives.
The sister/charge nurse will:
• Be supervisory to practice
• Be responsible for professional day to day clinical leadership and operational management of the ward.
• Ensure delivery of high quality, responsive, safe, efficient and compassionate care.
• Support the Matron in developing the service.
• Act as a leader and role model, adopting a flexible approach in a role which encompasses leadership, management and clinical responsibilities
• Demonstrate pride in their work and enthusiasm for quality of care
