We are currently recruiting for a Senior Management Accountant to work for the Civil Nuclear Constabulary at their headquarters in Culham.
This is a full-time permanent position working hybrid working after training 3 days a week in the office and 2 days from home.
To co-ordinate financial performance across the Constabulary, provide strategic and operational financial analysis and modelling and deputise for the Head of Financial Management as required.
PLEASE NOTE THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE MUST HAVE RESIDED WITHIN THE UK CONTINUOUSLY FOR AT LEAST 5 YEARS AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION. THIS IS DUE TO THE POLICE AND SECURITY VETTING THAT YOU MUST UNDERGO UPON SUCCESSION.
Principal Accountabilities
Jointly lead the Financial Management team (with the other Senior Management Accountants) and support the Finance Business Partners in the production and co-ordination of timely and accurate annual budgets (Medium Term Financial Plan), quarterly forecasts and monthly and annual management accounts for submission to the internal governance processes and Operators to enable them to make funding decisions for the CNPA.
To support the Head of Financial Management, Finance Business Partners, and Budget Holders by co-ordinating the production of financial information and financial modelling for strategic planning initiatives etc to support decision making.
To use a range of forecasting and review techniques to maintain financial control and to project accurately
Monitor performance against financial plans across the constabulary and direct the Financial Management team to investigate any significant variances from budget and provide advice and support in implementing corrective action.
Alternate with the other Senior Management Accountants in being responsible for sales invoicing, apprenticeship levy reconciliations and consolidation of financial information for monthly and annual accounts, budgets, and forecasts.
To provide accurate and timely budgetary control information to Finance Business Partners and Budget Holders and to produce consolidated reports.
Manage the team's business support function, including developing and managing the team's business plan, progress and reporting risk and issue management.
Support Business Partners in conducting budgeting and forecasting exercises, receive financial submissions, consolidate and incorporate to the medium-term financial plan.
Work with BPSS System Support team to develop additional reports and improve processes and models as necessary to enhance the support offered to key stakeholders.
Responsibility for data integrity in Oracle, identification and corrective action for errors and issues.
Work with the Financial Control team to produce accurate and timely end of year accounts, ensuring financial controls are maintained and supporting audit activities as required.ESSENTIAL CRITERIA
Part Qualified and actively studying towards a professional qualification with a recognised accountancy body, (ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA), with demonstrable experience in an accountancy environment within industry/public sector.
Highly competent and experienced in the use of Enterprise Resource systems and MS Office applications, especially advanced Microsoft Excel skills will be essential as you will be expected to maintain, develop, and build financial models.
Experience of staff management.
Effective communication skills to successfully manage interactions with external stakeholders (SLC representatives) and internal stakeholders, (i.e., Dept. Heads, Divisional Commanders, Operational Unit Commanders and their staff).
A high degree of numeracy, technical and analytical skills and the ability to question current ways of working
Strong organisational skills and a methodical approach to tasks.
Proactive, high energy, result oriented, with a can-do attitude in meeting critical deadlines
The experience of and ability to manage a small team to achieve results.
Willingness to work in a national environment communicating with colleagues in various locations

Final salary pension scheme available to all employees. Employees in the scheme will contribute a percentage of their monthly pay based on their annual salary and the employer will contribute 20.7%.
