Job Summary
The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations. Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff. There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army.
The Defence Animal Training Regiment (DATR) has developed into the epicentre of research and development in the use of animals in Defence for an ever-increasing variety of tasks. It comprises four elements which collectively provide the functions of Management & Policy, Animal Welfare, Veterinary Medicine, Equine & Canine Procurement and Innovative Training.
We are looking for someone who has strong interpersonal skills, committed to teamworking, has a fine eye for detail and is experienced in using a full range of MS Office applications including Excel, Word and Outlook.
You will lead a small team focused on delivering support around finance, discipline and HR management. This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities:
* You will be the head of the Business Support function, enabling Unit administration tasks.
* Your role will involve engagement across all personnel in the Unit.
* You will work as the lead for financial auditing and assurance.
* You will line manage a small team and your team will be enabling Unit outputs by ensuring that all internal personnel functions are being supported to allow personnel to deliver their own outputs.
* Within your remit will be ensuring compliance with data protection, and that people are correctly vetted for their roles.
* The Unit has multiple financial activities, and you will be responsible for ensuring that MoD policy is being complied with in the management of this activity within the Unit.
