The Cost Optimisation Manager is responsible for optimising performance of the specific trade lanes in terms of service, delivery and cost efficiency. This role supports business development opportunities and ensures compliance with group QA & EHS policies. The Cost Optimisation Manager will organise and manage the workflow for specific trade lanes international shipments (Exports, Imports, Indirects) in line with the temperature-control requirements and the Group QA & EHS policies. They are responsible for ensuring that cost-effective transport solutions are selected in accordance with the CRYOPDP premium service offer and the customer's requirements for route, sustainable mode of transport (air, train, road, multimodal), transit time and cost. MAIN CONTRIBUTION Build, manage and develop specific trade lanes in all aspects; including but not limited to lane mapping, rate negotiation, individual shipment arrangement etc. Deliver exceptional operations services of the highest quality, as recognized by CRYOPDP’s external clients and internal stakeholders Ensure backup of the international logistics team for complex technical requests or problems Develop the skills of the team and bring them to the right level of expertise for our core business Reduce fixed costs and increase gross margin, working on solutions to establish new cost-efficient routes and negotiating with providers, etc. Monitor Performance and KPIs to track service and cost efficiency (internally and with external service providers) Drive continuous improvement initiatives for enhancing the service and financial performance Provide excellent Customer Service and drive the same ethos throughout the business and team Retain all current lane specific business Showcase unique service features of CRYOPDP to increase value and add solutions for Customers Respond efficiently to customer issues & complaints. Introduce continuous improvement measures Drive commercial awareness and ensure that all agreed department targets (including GP, Revenue, Volume Growth) are met on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis Operations Manage daily lane specific department activity to ensure it achieves all targets/KPIs Ensure maximum operational effectiveness and efficiency across all aspects Continuous review and improvement of lane specific operational processes Support LHR Management team to review and implement SOP’s, Work Instructions, processes and procedures Administration Provide operational excellence by: Arranging collection from customers Email management; the ability to prioritise emails by the impact the response time will have on customer satisfaction and quality of product, etc. Utilising in-house systems to produce shipping documentation i.e HAWB, MAWB Import / Export flight documentation creation Preparation of import/export entries in accordance with UK HMRC regulations. Submit post entry amendments with HMRC Job file invoicing / billing (transfer the information required for ensuring the accuracy of the billing process) Operational housekeeping, to ensure the shipping file is updated accordingly including, but not limited to, Post Flights, PODs, Docstore (internal archiving system) Working with Study Control in line with customer SOPs Processing of shipments “re-icing / packaging” Dangerous Goods recognition Entering consignment notes onto CAPS (TMS) Marking and labeling packages Monitoring shipment progress/update milestone in TMS Obtaining shipping approval from global LSPs Liaising with CRYOPDP vendors for updates, cost, routing options etc. TCP and TCV recognition and management Ensure the growth of retained customers to maximise / increase amount of business carried for every customer by: Ensuring that all queries and complaints from external/internal customers and suppliers are investigated and responded to promptly Guaranteeing efficient responses to customer issues & complaints Showcasing unique service features of CRYOPDP to increase value-added solutions to Customers Increase dependency with customers to ensure CRYOPDP is the sole provider they use across all modes Meet administrative KPI’s: Being involved with larger project movements and special customer requests Costs versus Budget Gross margin % Time-in-full-service performance % Number of CAPAs (Corrective Action Preventive Action) Number of temperature excursions Number of airline and customs delays Number of CAPAs (Corrective Action Preventive Action) Internal stakeholders and customer’s feedback Hours Lost Time Incidents This role will interface with the following departments/teams: Internally Sales Customer Experience Transport Global CRYOPDP Offices, Operational teams and Vendor management Pricing Study set up Externally Suppliers including airlines Service Partners (agents) Customer Logistics Teams Required Skills Profile: Experience and education: 4 years’ experience in airfreight and knowledge of the air industry, previous pharma, healthcare, temperature-controlled experience highly desirable.
