The Role:
As a Senior Platform Engineer you are responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining the cloud infrastructure and platform services that support our software. This role requires deep expertise in cloud computing, Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) containerization, and DevOps practices, ensuring that platforms are scalable, secure, and optimized for performance. The Senior Platform Engineer will work closely with cross-functional teams to drive best practices, contribute to system architecture, and provide technical leadership in platform engineering.
Role Responsibilities:
Azure Services & Infrastructure:
* Lead the design, deployment, and management of Azure-based infrastructure, leveraging both PaaS and IaaS solutions.
* Optimize cloud infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
* Implement and manage Azure-based services to support software applications, ensuring high availability and disaster recovery capabilities.
Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD):
* Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, ensuring smooth and automated deployment processes.
* Implement monitoring solutions (e.g., Azure Monitor, Grafana) to track the health and performance of platform services.
* Utilize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Bicep, and ARM templates to automate the provisioning and management of infrastructure.
Collaboration & Communication:
* Work closely with system architects, platform engineers, and product owners to understand business objectives and ensure platform alignment with those goals.
* Proactively communicate project status, technical issues, and solutions to team members and stakeholders.
* Contribute to knowledge-sharing initiatives within and outside the team, including leading technical sessions and brown-bag events.
Containerization:
* Ensure the efficient use of containerization to support application development, deployment, and scaling.
Technical Leadership:
* Lead technical decision-making processes, driving best practices in platform engineering and cloud architecture.
* Mentor junior engineers, providing guidance on technical challenges and professional development.
* Identify and address technical debt, making strategic recommendations for improvements to systems and processes.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Required:
* Extensive experience Platform Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or similar role, particularly with Azure services and infrastructure.
* Proven expertise in containerization and orchestration.
* Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, including DevOps tools (Azure DevOps, Terraform, Bicep), CI/CD pipeline management (YAML), monitoring, logging, alerts and Infrastructure as Code.
* A strong understanding of backend development using .NET Core, SQL Server, Web API.
Preferred:
* Azure certification, such as Azure Solution Architect, Azure DevOps Engineer, or Azure Administrator.
* Experience in contributing to system architecture and building scalable, robust systems.
* Familiarity with security frameworks and compliance standards (e.g., ISO 27001, SOC 2).
* Familiarity with Azure technologies such as App Services, Front Door, Logic Apps, Service Bus.
Experience with automated testing frameworks and practices.
