We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and passionate assistant to join the Department of Psychological Medicine as part of an established team working on the Neurorehabilitation Unit at Goole and District Hospital in North Lincolnshire.
The post involves providing psychotherapeutic interventions on a one-to-one basis, completing cognitive assessments, and supporting cognitive rehabilitation programs for people with a range of neurological conditions. Additional responsibilities include supporting the department with service developments, audit, literature reviews and waiting list interventions.
This post is suited to someone with an interest in working with people with acute and long-term neurological conditions.
Main duties of the job
To support the delivery of highly specialist psychology services within a Level 2a Neurorehabilitation Unit.
Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
* BSc Hons in Psychology
* Counselling / therapy experience
* Previous experience working in a therapeutic role
* Achievement of BSc (Hons) 2:1
* Post qualification training in research methods and analysis
Occupational Experience and Abilities
* Current UK driving licence. If it is essential that you are to travel independently across the locality, you must have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.
* Experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel.
* An enthusiasm for a broad range of psychological phenomenon, including psychological therapy, knowledge and skills.
* Experience of carrying out cognitive tests, including administering and scoring.
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures.
Knowledge and Skills
* Knowledge of mental health problems.
* Ability to communicate effectively at both written and oral level, including sensitive information to service users, their families, carers and a wide range of lay and professional people within and outside the NHS.
* Able to work independently, prioritise and manage own workload.
* Able to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Able to seek advice and supervision when required.
* Be able to manage stressful and emotive situations calmly, professionally and effectively whilst maintaining own boundaries.
* Experience or knowledge of psychological difficulties associated with long-term health and neurological conditions.
