Come and join our exciting and dynamic Children and Young People’s Therapy team.
We are looking to recruit an Occupational Therapy Associate Practitioner to join our Children and Young People’s Therapy Service. Buckinghamshire has an integrated therapy team which forms part of a wider children and young people’s service including occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech and language therapists, health visitors and school nurses. The post will be based in Bucks with an expectation to work within a countywide service. This integrated service will give you the opportunity to develop your skills working therapeutically with children and young people in Buckinghamshire.
Your role will be varied and will include providing intervention to children and young people in clinics and educational settings.
You will also be supporting our equipment team with provision of equipment in the home and educational settings.
Under the supervision of qualified therapists, you will be working directly with children and young people to achieve their goals and develop their functional skills.
Car driver with access to a car for work purposes is an essential criteria for this post.
• To undertake treatment as delegated by the Therapists and to deliver individual and group interventions without direct supervision
• To plan and provide interventions within the framework established by the Therapists and to communicate results back to the Therapist.
• To organise and prepare activities to enable children to complete therapy interventions
• To be responsible for the safe and competent use of all appropriate equipment
• To be a lone worker in patient’s homes occasionally
• Provision of equipment within home and school settings.
• Support the therapy team with clinical administration such as booking appointments, supporting with management of clinical data and ordering equipment.
• To liaise with product manufacturers and their representatives on behalf of the therapist as required.
• To liaise with the local Equipment Store and specialist technicians with regard to the delivery installation and collection of equipment on behalf of the qualified therapists.
• To develop resources to facilitate the application of therapy interventions
We have a well-developed competency based training package and clinical supervision to support staff development.
