Experienced High Voltage Consultants - Flexible locationHoran Power Engineering are recruiting for experienced high voltage consultants to join our team.
A major part of our business is the inspection of electrical installations with an aim to improve the safety and long-term reliability of those installations. Our site inspections are often invasive and include the use of specialist equipment to determine asset condition. Most of our work is high voltage, and our staff are expected to have a detailed knowledge of high voltage safety and how to make equipment safe before working on it.This role will include regular site visits to inspect high voltage installations on behalf of our clients and writing technical reports to detail the findings of the inspections. As well as planned inspections, you will be expected to forensically investigate and report on electrical incidents, including electrical fires.On average, one or two days a week will be spent travelling or on site. On the other days there will be an opportunity to work from home or from an office local to your home. If there is an office within 45 minutes of your home, then we would like to see you in the office at least two days a week.Ideally you will have experience as a Senior Authorised Person and be able to support our control room approving switching schedules and conducting high voltage switching from time to time on the forty private networks we operate.You will have the opportunity to contribute to the growth of our business and to share in the rewards. Degree qualified in an appropriate engineering discipline and/or chartered engineer status.Worked in the power sector for at least 10 years.Specialist knowledge in switchgear, high voltage cables or transformersExperience working for or alongside a UK power distribution company (DNO)Detailed knowledge of electrical standards and legislation in the UKAn understanding of high voltage safety rules and their applicationAn in-depth knowledge of power system commissioning practicePractical hands-on experience installing and maintaining high voltage equipment.Desirable:Experience in wind or solar industriesExperience in the design of HV substationsExperience in the forensic investigation of electrical failuresExperience as a Senior Authorised PersonExperience working live at low voltages.Practical experience commissioning high voltage equipment, including protection systems.Package:Excellent salary £50,000 to £80,000/year depending on experience.Excellent career progression potential.Overtime potential.Annual bonus.Private healthcare insurance for employee and immediate family (partners, and dependents under the age of 18).25 days holiday per year plus bank holidays with an option to buy additional annual leave after the probation period is completed.Use of company vehicle, mobile telephone, and laptop.Matched pension contributions up to 5%.
