Job summary
We are seeking to recruit an experienced Bereavement lead Midwife who will lead and work within the team, to deliver personalised care to bereaved women and their families. You will be dynamic, sensitive and forward thinking in the bereavement arena of maternity care.
You should have sound knowledge of the National bereavement pathway and be prepared to engage with bereaved families, undertaking clinical working and teaching as required.
This is part time role for hours per week.
Main duties of the job
Act as a clinical specialist providing verbal and written information to bereaved families.
Enabling the bereaved to access their entitlements by liaising with outside agencies.
Being a resource for medical, nursing and midwifery staff on physical, psychological and administrative aspects of bereavement care.
Support and teach staff in formal and informal settings on all aspects of pregnancy associated bereavement care.
Being aware of research and best practice in bereavement and identifying through audit and other means, areas for improvement in bereavement care.
The role will require organisational, management and leadership skills. The post holder will provide specialist advice facilitating the development of others.

Qualifications
Essential
1. Registered Midwife
2. ENB 997 or equivalent
3. Evidence of continuing professional development
4. Degree in related subject
Desirable
5. Supervisor of midwives
Experience
Essential
6. Proven post registration experience as clinical midwife
7. Antenatal, intra partum and postnatal clinical practice
8. Previous ward management experience
9. Experience as Band 6: with midwifery experience in all clinical areas, including hospital/community and consolidated experience of pregnancy loss
10. Knowledge and experience of negotiating and motivation groups and individuals to deliver on agreed objectives
11. Understanding and experience of managing case mix and skill mix according to competing clinical priorities
