Our client, Scottish Power Renewables, is looking for an Offshore Support Engineer to join their team in Lowestoft.
This is a contract role approved for 12 months (Inside IR35) with competitive rates.
The position will work within the project Construction team, reporting to the Project Construction Services Manager. Key responsibilities include:
1. Ensuring QHSE policies and procedures are complied with and maintained throughout the project lifecycle.
2. Supporting the Construction Services Manager in coordinating all onshore and offshore construction support services.
3. Directly supporting all project packages with works planning, logistics coordination, walkdown, and sign-off of assets throughout the offshore works.
4. Assisting in the preparation of resource plans and work forecasts associated with construction services onshore and offshore.
5. Reviewing, approving, or rejecting contractors' risk assessments and method statements.
6. Ensuring subcontractor compliance with contractual obligations.
7. Protecting SPR interests both onshore and offshore.
8. Assisting with all offshore construction services scope of works for unscheduled maintenance, including offshore safety equipment monitoring.
9. Assisting with the management and implementation of onshore site facilities.
10. Coordinating daily works between different contractors and ensuring all relevant team leaders are aware of the contractors on site.
Supporting project scheduling, progress tracking & reporting, and development of measures:
1. Preparing work requests for review prior to issuing to contractors.
2. Reviewing contractor work request responses.
3. Supporting the handover from contractors to the operation & maintenance department.
4. Coordinating the provision of spares, consumables, tools, and equipment.
5. Participating in regular coordination meetings to ensure continuous and smooth delivery of services.
6. Managing all offshore HSE and Quality issues and communicating with respective parties regarding events/incidents during construction.
7. Assisting with the operation of the site office, including subcontractors working for the site office.
8. Supporting coordination between Installation and Commissioning (assisting with handovers and offshore daily planning).
9. Participating in daily coordination meetings and attending progress meetings with contractors.
10. Ensuring construction support works are completed to specifications and schedules, reviewing completion certificates prior to sign-off.
11. Clarifying interferences with involved contractors and prioritizing works if necessary.
12. Daily tracking of the status of works and disrupted workflows in relation to the installation schedule.
Contractor works planning:
1. Assisting with preparing resource allocation plans for offshore installation activities.
2. Overseeing the day-to-day running of the Construction warehouse.
3. Producing risk assessments and method statements for offshore/onshore works.
Minimum requirements:
1. Must hold and maintain full GWO training and offshore medical certificates.
2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in an onshore supervisory role within the offshore energy sector.
3. Significant administrative background.
4. Strong communication and customer orientation skills.
5. Advanced awareness of Health and Safety related to construction.
6. Proven ability to work in a construction site environment.
7. Excellent IT skills are essential.
8. Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills to collaborate effectively with the project team, including third parties, contractors, and subcontractors.
Delivery team includes Construction Service Manager, Offshore Construction Manager, Installation Managers, and Site team. External contacts include Contractors, Suppliers, and Consultants.
