Our client, a not-for-profit organisation, is seeking a solution-focused HR professional with a passion for delivering exceptional, first-class HR services. In this role, you will provide HR leadership and ensure the delivery of an effective, values-led HR service. As a member of the organisation’s Business Planning Group, the Head of HR will lead the operational HR, Training, and Health & Safety functions, ensuring a customer-focused, professional service that meets the business plan, policy, and legislative requirements.
The ideal candidate will be an innovative and values-driven HR professional with strong leadership skills and a supportive, consultative approach. You will be skilled at leading a loyal and hardworking team, nurturing their development while fostering a positive, collaborative environment. With exceptional knowledge of employment law and its practical application, you will also have experience designing and delivering a range of initiatives across L&D, wellbeing, reward & recognition, and career development. The role will involve managing a small HR, Training, and H&S team and reporting to an experienced, people-focused Director of Operations.
The Job
* Lead and manage the HR, Training, and H&S departments.
* Shape and implement effective strategies, policies, and plans that result in the delivery of high-quality, customer-focused HR and training services.
* Implement a Human Resources Strategy to achieve an employee-oriented, high-performance culture that emphasises values, quality, empowerment, person-centredness, and the recruitment, retention, and development of a highly skilled, competent, and supported workforce.
* Lead on all aspects of employee relations, staff recruitment, and selection.
* Contribute to shaping a Total Reward Strategy and ensure that the organisation’s Reward and Recognition practices are fair and competitive.
* Lead the development and training across the organisation to ensure a well-trained, competent workforce with positive wellbeing.
* Be a proactive member of the Business Planning Group and build strong relationships across the organisation.
The Person Specification
* Professional CIPD qualification.
* Extensive experience leading an HR function.
* Experience working with HR systems.
* Experience collaborating with senior management and the board.
* Experience managing a Learning and Development function.
* Demonstrable experience providing a customer-focused service.
* Experience designing and managing a suite of management information covering HR, Recruitment, and Learning & Development is advantageous.
* Experience writing reports for senior management and the board is advantageous.
* Computer literate with strong knowledge of Microsoft 365 and Teams.
* Extensive knowledge of regulatory legislation and compliance.
* Comprehensive knowledge of HR legislation and best practice.
* Ability to prioritise the workload of teams effectively to meet deadlines and manage the conflicting demands of a busy HR and Learning & Development function.
* Ability to provide comprehensive and accurate HR advice to internal and external stakeholders.
* Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills.
* Excellent organisational and planning skills.
* Good judgement and decision-making skills.
* Commitment to customer service and a positive attitude towards providing high-quality service.
Salary & Benefits
* £55,000 per annum (rising to £56,780 after probation).
