This role is ideal for individuals who are dedicated to empowering young learners with additional needs through personalised support and care. About the Role: As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant (SEN TA), you will work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to provide 1:1 or small group support for pupils with a range of special educational needs, including ASD, ADHD, speech and language difficulties, and social-emotional challenges. You will aim to ensure that every child can access the curriculum and flourish in a safe, engaging, and understanding environment. Key Responsibilities: Provide tailored support to pupils with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom. Assist with implementing Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning strategies. Foster a positive and inclusive learning atmosphere that encourages pupil independence and emotional regulation. Support pupils in developing communication, social, and life skills through structured interventions. Monitor pupil progress and provide regular feedback to class teachers and SENCO. Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, and external agencies. Promote and model positive behaviour, encouraging pupils to engage meaningfully in lessons and school activities. Job Requirements: Previous experience supporting children with SEN in a primary school or similar setting is essential. A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to working with learners with diverse needs. Strong knowledge of special educational needs and strategies for supporting learning and development. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. A relevant qualification (e.g. Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or SEN-specific training) is desirable.
