About the Role:
We are looking for a dependable and safety-conscious Yard Operator to join a well-established chemical manufacturing business. This is a hands-on, active role that plays an essential part in ensuring smooth material movement, safe yard management, and support for production operations on site.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong work ethic and experience in yard or site operations, particularly within a chemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment.
What You'll Be Doing:
1. Safely load and unload raw materials and finished goods using appropriate equipment
2. Handle movement of containers, drums, and IBCs across the site
3. Support production and logistics teams with timely delivery of materials to designated areas
4. Carry out visual checks and ensure correct labelling/storage of materials
5. Follow all on-site HSE procedures and wear correct PPE at all times
6. Report any hazards, incidents, or near misses promptly
7. Maintain a clean and organised yard area, free from obstructions
8. Assist with inspections and ensure chemical storage complies with regulations
9. Work closely with production, warehouse, and site management teams
10. Assist with basic plant operations and other tasks when required
11. Participate in toolbox talks and relevant training sessions
12. Ensure accurate record-keeping for yard movements and checks
What We're Looking For:
1. Previous experience in a yard, warehouse, or plant-based role, preferably in chemical or manufacturing sectors
2. Valid FLT licence and confident operating a forklift in a busy industrial environment
3. Understanding of chemical handling and health & safety practices
4. A proactive team player with strong attention to detail
5. Good communication skills and a flexible approach to tasks
6. Experience with containers, tankers, or bulk liquid movements would be advantageous
