Job summary We are currently looking to appoint a Trainee Clinical Administration Officer (CAO) to work in the Child Health Department in the Den within the Family Care Division. The successful candidate is expected to build on their skill sets to develop advanced skills commensurate with their responsibilities by the end of an 18-month period. Excellent organisational skills and an ability to work under pressure are essential requirements together with great attention to detail for ensuring data is recorded accurately onto the patient administration system to manage the booking of designated follow up clinics after discharge. To be successful in this role you will possess GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent) in English and Maths, excellent keyboard skills and have relevant office experience. You must have effective communication skills and be adaptable to meet the service needs. Knowledge of medical terminology, customer care and previous NHS experience are also desirable. Main duties of the job The main emphasis of this role is to provide a robust and varied admin service to the Child Health Care Unit. Initially, duties will include filing of reports/correspondence in patient' case notes, accurately maintaining electronic records, answering the telephone, and general/audio typing basic CAO instructions. On completion of an 18-month training programme, duties will include actioning complex instructions, monitoring outstanding diagnostic test results where applicable, actively manage patient RTT pathways within local and national targets, and provide cross-cover for other CAOs.
