Our client, an industry-leading manufacturer, seeks to appoint an experienced Procurement Manager. As Procurement Manager, you will understand engineering and have previous experience working for a manufacturing / R&D-focused business. As part of this role, you will procure mechanical, electrical and electronic parts from various overseas suppliers. You must have worked with electronic component suppliers in the past.
You will be responsible for managing and controlling the purchase of goods, materials and services for individual projects throughout the company, co-ordinating with the Project Managers, Material Controllers and Manufacturing teams. You need to be a great negotiator capable of building long-lasting partnerships throughout an engineering supply chain, a strategic thinker capable of putting a procurement strategy into action and a great communicator to build effective internal and external relationships.
Role and Responsibilities:
1. Purchase goods, materials, components or services in accordance with specified technical, quality and delivery requirements.
2. Negotiate contracts, improved prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
3. Prepare purchase orders in line with final negotiations with selected suppliers.
4. Interface with other departments and Suppliers for all matters related to the procurement of Project materials, equipment and sub-contract services.
5. Provide procurement support for new designs, and when necessary, participate in bid reviews and evaluations.
Skills and Abilities:
1. Well-established experience in buying/procurement in engineering.
2. Possess strong knowledge of procuring technical equipment/materials.
3. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities, negotiate effectively and coach other members of the team where appropriate.
4. Membership of Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) is preferred but not essential.
