The Great Western Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is excited to offer an opportunity for an ambitious individual to join our Data and Informatics team as a Data Warehouse Specialist Developer.
We are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking individual to work closely with the Data Architect to maintain and develop the Trust Data Warehouse and BI architecture including performance, maintainability, and scalability along with a secure, governed, and well-architected data infrastructure.
This role will act as a technical expert to users both within the department and to other departments around the Trust in the following key areas:
1. Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS)
2. Data Warehousing Architectures
3. Microsoft Power BI
4. PostgreSQL
To be successful in this role you will have a real eye for detail, an analytical mind-set, excellent communication skills, and a willingness to adapt your approach with our stakeholders and interpret requirements with the enthusiasm to get the job done to the highest standards. Experience of working with NHS data is essential for this role.
Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for the maintenance and development of the Data Warehouse and BI architecture including performance, maintainability, and scalability along with a secure, governed, and well-architected data infrastructure.
2. Act as a technical expert to users both within the department and to other departments around the Trust.
3. Provide technical advice on all Data Warehousing and BI solutions within the Trust.
4. Deputise for the Data Architect in all areas relating to support and maintenance of the Data Warehouse and related systems.
5. Analyse, investigate, and resolve complex queries.
6. Implement IM&T policies for own area and contribute to changes in BI policies and procedures.
7. Provide expert guidance and recommendations.
8. Manage the operations of delivery and storage of patient and staff identifiable information.
9. Ensure accurate data flows to support Trust Financial Reporting, Income Recovery, National Data Submissions, and Internal reporting requirements.
Reporting:
1. Provide technical and practical support to members of the Information Services team.
2. Work with other team members to ensure that all information supplied to customers is of the highest possible quality.
3. Maintain a good understanding of the NHS Data Standards and Information Publications.
Communication and Relationships Skills:
1. Receive, interpret, and communicate highly complex service-related matters.
2. Communicate clearly and concisely to a wide range of groups at all levels throughout the Trust.
Responsibilities for People or Training:
1. Responsible for delivering specialist training to other staff and organisations.
2. Coordinate day-to-day allocation of work for junior team members.
3. Act as a key mentor to junior staff.
Other Factors:
1. This role requires the ability to juggle complex issues whilst dealing with demands from Executive Directors, Clinicians, and Senior Managers.
2. Flexibility in approach with working hours with occasional evening and weekend working being required.
3. High levels of concentration and mental effort required whilst handling frequent interruptions.
