Your New Role:
As a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer / Technician, you will report directly to the Mechanical Engineering Supervisor. This role impacts the success of the company through effective maintenance and repair of plant equipment to ensure ongoing manufacture of goods for our customers. Core duties and responsibilities include:
1. Utilising mechanical drawings and specifications when working with equipment.
2. Repairing mechanical faults on plant equipment in a timely manner.
3. Maintaining and repairing material handling equipment, presses, mixers, packers, weighers, etc.
4. Maintaining and repairing pneumatic and hydraulic controlled equipment.
5. Maintaining and repairing drives and motors used in the production process.
6. Operating mills and lathes safely.
7. Conducting preventative maintenance activities in line with the PM programme.
8. Maintaining and repairing domestic elements within the mill and office accommodation.
9. Conducting remedial work throughout the site and offices, including removal of redundant equipment and modernisation.
10. Ensuring tools are maintained in a clean and safe condition.
11. Effective liaison with production on breakdown repair, maintenance, and priority of breakdown.
12. Accurate and timely fabrication and repair of mechanical assemblies in mild and stainless steel.
13. Pipe fitting and repairs as required.
14. Accurate completion of records/documentation as required.
15. Adhering to all health, safety, and environmental procedures.
What You'll Need To Succeed:
To be considered for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills, qualifications, and experience:
1. Able to communicate effectively at all levels.
2. Able to work to deadlines and under pressure.
3. Capable of solving problems.
4. Self-motivated and capable of working on your own initiative.
5. Capable of using standard diagnostic tools.
Education & Knowledge:
Time-Served Maintenance Fitter; holder of a qualification in a mechanical discipline (desirable).
Experience:
Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience within an automated plant, previous turning & lathe experience (desirable), previous experience within the agri-food industry (desirable), experience of plant installation, sheet metal work, fabrication or welding experience, experience in pipe fitting or pipe welding, and experience of pneumatic & hydraulic systems.
Circumstances:
This role may require operating on rotating 3-shifts, participating in the overtime rota, and being part of the on-call rotas. A valid Driving License and own transport are required.
What You'll Get In Return:
You will earn a highly competitive salary of £39000 for working a 39-hour week across an attractive days-only pattern (Monday - Thursday 07:30 - 16:00 + Friday 07:30 - 15:00).
